The National Scoliosis Foundation indicates that over 7 million Americans suffer from scoliosis-related pain. The condition is often perceived as uncontrollable, leading many to feel hopeless. People with scoliosis may opt for costly spinal surgery or endure the discomfort of wearing expensive braces to manage the condition. However, there are alternatives available.
A woman in her late twenties visited our clinic complaining of chronic neck and shoulder pain accompanied by frequent tension headaches. She had been dealing with this issue for a number of years, trying various methods such as yoga stretches, massage therapy, and chiropractic care without success. Her problem persisted without resolution.
During her initial appointment, we observed a noticeable bump on the back of her right neck, a significant protrusion and left deviation of C7, and tightness in her left shoulder, which was positioned higher than her right shoulder. We focused on treating her specific areas using acupuncture to provide immediate relief for her neck and shoulder pain. Following the first session, she reported that her tension headaches had subsided and she was experiencing improved sleep. The bump on her right neck had reduced in size, and her left shoulder was now able to rest more comfortably on her mattress. Overall, she felt a significant decrease in neck and shoulder tension and an improvement in her body posture and alignment.
Subsequently, we continued to address the neck and shoulder tension issues, working on realigning her cervical spine and reducing inflammation and pain in those areas. During the follow-up treatments, we identified the underlying cause of her problems: a mild scoliosis that had gone undiagnosed. This condition was responsible for the abnormal curvature of her spine from the lower back to the upper neck. Despite having scoliosis, she did not experience pain in her lower or mid-back; her main symptoms were concentrated in her neck and shoulders. The tightness in her mid and lower back was pulling her spine to the right locally, resulting in a curvature to the left in her upper back.
Through the acupuncture treatments and care provided at our clinic, we began to correct her spinal curvature with just one treatment focused on her mid and lower back. After two follow-up sessions, her scoliosis curvature had been minimized, and her posture appeared considerably improved.

And, here is the result after two scoliosis treatment sessions. The result is quite significant as her spine has started to appear straighter and vertical.
